Why youll love it
- Easy. Youre 6 ingredients away from your latest condiment obsession!
- Better than Fast-Food. Homemade is always better and bonus: you can make it whenever the craving hits.
- Versatile. Dunk it, drizzle it, dip itthere are so many ways to use spicy ranch!
Ingredients
- Sour Cream – full fat sour cream will give the best texture, but light may be used, if desired. Greek yogurt may also be used.
- Mayonnaise – again full-fat will create the best flavor and texture, but light mayo may also be used. Use a brand that you enjoy the flavor. Duke’s, Kraft, Hellman’s, etc. Greek yogurt may also be used, but you wont get quite the same flavor and texture.
- Buttermilk – adds a tangy flavor and also thins out the dressing to the perfect consistency. Real buttermilk is recommended, but regular milk mixed with lemon juice or vinegar would make an ok substitution.
- Ranch Seasoning Mix – Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Salad Dressing & Recipe Mix will give you the classic ranch flavor. You can also make your own blend.
- Chili Powder adds a smoky flavor with a hint of heat to balance out the tanginess of the buttermilk. Feel free to omit or swap with smoked paprika for less heat.
- Hot Sauce I used Frank’s Original Red Hot Sauce and recommend using anywhere from 1-4 tablespoons depending on your heat tolerance. If another brand of hot sauce is used, such as Tabasco you may need more or less, so start with 1 tablespoon and go from there. If youre using a spicer hot sauce such as a habanero flavored sauce, youll definitely use less, so again, start with 1 tablespoon and add more to taste, if necessary.
How to make
- Place sour cream, mayo, buttermilk, ranch seasoning mix, chili powder, and hot sauce in a bowl, whisk until smooth, then cover, chill, and serve!
What to serve with spicy ranch
- As a drizzle. Drizzle this on your favorite Taco Bell dupes! (Cheesy Gordita Crunch recipe coming soon). This is also great on any of your favorite Mexican inspired recipes such as chicken quesadillas.
- As a dip. Pair with nachos, chicken nuggets, fries, pickles, and more!
How to store
Leftovers will last in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Freezing is not recommended.
